Ogrin
Appearance:
Both, Ogres and Goblins, have thick, green skin, which can be of different tones, ranging from a soft green like that of mint leaves to a very dark, almost grayish tone. Something that must be taken into account is that the skin of the Ogrin is not scaly like that of the Abhor. It is, instead, like that of humans, only thicker...a lot thicker.
Their ears are pointed straight out to the sides, those of ogres usually being smaller than those of the goblin people, whose wide ears sometimes resemble the wings of a bat. The hair is usually black or a dark shade gray, with the occasional silverish gray and they have facial and body hair in the same degree as humans. Also, both of the ogrin species have a small pair of horns on their foreheads.
Now, while ogres tend to be physically huge, standing at an astounding average of nine feet (Some tribes of ogres, however are said to be over eleven feet tall) and with massive muscles, goblins are small, with an average height of five feet and slim, fragile bodies.
The clothing, for both species, consists mainly of pants or trousers, common accessories including body piercings and collars made of bones or fangs. Some Goblins who live in Human cities, however, tend to use the human clothing that is common in the area they inhabit.
Abilities:
Goblins, having little physical strength, rely on cleverness and intelligence, which makes them better at bartering and bargaining than at swinging swords or axes. Another important trait of the less physically inclined ogrin is their strong sense of survival. The average goblin will usually run instead of engaging in combat (Which is usually a smart choice, as the average goblin is not fit for fighting) and do anything to save his life, even if it means betraying those to whom he is supposed to be loyal to.
Ogres, on the contrary, have very little intelligence, for which they compensate with a massive amount of physical strength, which makes them capable of tearing trees from the ground with their bare hands. Their lack of intelligence, however, makes it very difficult for them to follow the ways of magic and of science.
History:
Some millennia ago, when Dio created the dwarves and Volkain brought elves into existence, Mercu thought: “I can do better”, and created the ogrin.
The original ogrin were unstoppable war machines. Their physical prowess was unmatched and their cleverness made them even deadlier foes. Unfortunately, the stronger ones sought out the other strong ones, and those who were smarter sought out only those who were intelligent too, until such a strong barrier was created that the race was split and became two different races. Mercu saw this and, despite not being in his original designs, figured it would work out fine, with how the two were managing together. Ogres and Goblins have partnered up since, in a kind of loving relationship. It was this teams who started running Goblin Kiosks. With the manpower of Ogres and the intelligence of Goblins, these places soon became important trade centers, making some Goblins extremely wealthy, as Ogres lacked the intelligence to claim their share.
Many years later came the Great War, the Red Faction Army razed several cities and killed thousands of people. Those who survived tried to escape and, where most saw a thin ray of hope, goblins saw business. Charging high prices, they gained a large income, as people would rather pay the high sums of money that Goblins demanded than be slaughtered. And as war went on, Goblins kept making money...
Some time later the war was over and cities were either in ruins or in poverty. Once again the goblins saw an opportunity for business. Goblins started making loans to the cities and charging high interest rates, amassing a huge fortune.
Transportation:
Being goblins the inventors of airships and the ones who run the Kiosks along with ogres, they mainly use airships for transportation. However, some ogres will rather walk or ride, remaining true to their wild nature.
Religion:
The urban ogrin are not the most religious race of Fou Lu, in fact, they care little about religion and only worship their respective elemental gods from time to time. Ogrish clans, however, are more religious and often perform religious ceremonies to honor Mercu, their creator.
Language:
Due to the fact that most goblins make a living from making business with members of other races, goblins have adopted common as their tongue and only when communicating with other ogrin do they use the harsh, growl-based ogrin tongue. It is not uncommon, however, to find an ogre who can speak common. Most of them, however, lack proper diction because of their low intelligence.
Society:
Goblin society is based on the one thing that interests them the most: Money. The wealthier rule over those with less money and over the uncaring ogres.
Goblin family structure is quite simple. Those who live under the same roof are considered as family, the head of the family being the one who has the highest income. It is also not rare to see ogres and goblins living together, as ogres and goblins are often brought up together.
Now, ogres who live away from cities live in clans, which are groups of families that share a common ancestor. These families are usually very large and consist of several relatives. Ogrish clans are led by a council of elders who make all decisions and are respected and admired by all members of the clan.
Ogrin clans are reclusive and often hostile towards strangers, which gives them a bad reputation and often causes war among clans.
In The World:
The Ogrin are scattered all around Fou Lu, being most commonly found in the Ercus and Valanthus continent, especially in Gnufruk’s Tooth. Seeing how scattered they are, there is no way for an Ogrin Empire to exist.
Note: Ogrin have a lifespan similar to that of humans.
