Appearance: It is fairly impossible to pin down a single, usual appearance for humans. Their eye, hair, and skin colors can vary greatly depending on the kind of places they're from. Each of the elemental continents has stereotypical humans, which have been broken down below.
The Fire continent often boasts powerful features. Wide shoulders and cheekbones, generally gravitating toward the more muscular, the hot climate over most of the continent has left them quite dark. Those native to the southern part of the continent usually have very dark skin, hair, and eyes. People from the north are a bit paler, but not really pale, with tan/brown skin, black to brown hair, and usually brown eyes. Clothing on the Fire continent, when in town or the home, is usually sparse and loose, to prevent overheating. In the desert, however, they wear robes and veils to stop the sun from burning their skin while they go.
Peoples of the Water continent tend to be rather tall. Despite that their muscular capacity isn't usually as great as most, though still exceeding that of the Psychics. Their bodies are usually more lean and very dexterous. Most of their features are quite rounded, no jutting chins or cheek bones, their bodies looking quite fluid. Skin colors are usually white to light tan, some in older age developing bluish tints to their skin. Their eyes are, of course, dominantly blue, with some green every now and then. Hair is most often a dirty blonde or gold, often worn long. Clothing varies largely across the continent, from simple pants and vests for sailing on nice days, to very ornate noble outfits. Most everything, though, is form fitting and usually colored like the sea, pearls being their favorite jewel accessory.
Humans hailing from the Earth continent tend to be shorter with powerful builds. Some think this is from generations of breeding with dwarves, while others say it simply shows their connection to the earth. Skin colors are usually fairly dark, deep tans and browns, though some tend toward the paler side, while eyes and hair colors are almost always dark. An odd feature of humans from the Earth continent is that, unlike Dwarves, it is extremely rare that they can grow beards, or any kind of facial hair at all. Clothing often leans towards things to show off muscles or figures, although many wear clothes that look like something a laborer would wear. A popular fashion that is springing up is thick leather gloves, and chains attached to clothing and draped over parts of the body.
Those from the Air continent are those who are usually credited with being 'average' height. They also vary when it comes to a normal muscular capacity, some having strong builds, others tending toward fewer muscles and focusing on others things instead. The skin of the Air peoples is the fairest of all, usually quiet pale, and not able to tan well, usually burning instead. Their eyes are most often a pale blue or green, and their hair light blonde to silvery white. They do have several special characteristics, though, such as their great lung capacity. Another mark is that, even those who are more oriented toward the physical, have a decent grasp of the intellectual, if not a great one. Clothing trends on the Air continent are usually dominated by robes, designed differently for different positions in society.
Finally, the Psychics can vary in height, depending on what island they hail from, usually gravitating more toward the usual height of the nearest elemental continent. Though, no matter what island they're from, Psychics almost always have a poor muscular build, focusing more on the intellectual. Their skin tends to be mildly pale, but can tan fairly if the time is taken. Eye colors are most often deep greens or hazels, while hair can be any color from blond, to red, to brown, to black, not really depending on much but family lineage. Clothing is usually robes or suits of some sort, anything that accentuates intelligent features, and many Psychics are forced to wear eyeglasses or something of the like from long hours spent bent over books.
Abilities: Humans are very ambitious. They've delved into nearly everything there is to do, and plunged onward then some. This drive to push further and further into the future and to improve and expand is probably the greatest ability of the humans. Of course, each element has it's own aptitudes as well. The peoples of Fire generally lean toward the physical, looking to brute strength and violence for careers and power. Earth elementals usually have a good physical build as well, but usually look toward manual labor or martial skills, which hold a deeper sense to the user. Water citizens use poetry to reach into the deeper part of the soul, as well as songs, stories, and ritualistic dances. The Air peoples show a tendency for poetry too, but are also the most diplomatic of all the humans, possessing a calm, open mind most of the time. The Psychics focus mainly on academics, having excellent school systems on their islands, as well as a larger focus on the arcane arts than the other humans.
History: Supposedly the last race to be created, and thus the race with the shortest life span, many of the older races thought humans wouldn't last long at all. Yet they've yet to be wiped out, and have spread all over Fou Lu. Now the most populated race, their perseverance, determination, and massive breeding has made them one of the most successful races on Fou Lu. There were a few times when others tried to exterminate humans, but they were never able to succeed, and now their descendents in the other races must watch as the humans continue to increase in population.
Transportation: The most widely known form of transportation invented by humans are the airships. The concept was created by Vinni Vishinsi, an Earth elemental with a propensity for mechanical things such as clocks and children's toys. With the aid of several mages Vinni created a prototype airship, which could travel at a fraction of the speed of even today's slowest airships, but was able to go across non-solid surfaces such as water and lava, which was a large step. Since then they've been much improved, each continent adding their own special flair to the airship.
Religion: Not all humans throw themselves largely into religion, but each element is attributed to a specific god or goddess, and they usually at least pay lip service to their particular deity. Volkain, Aidon, Thanatos, Mercu, and Dio are all worshipped on their respective continents. A few devout humans follow Althena, but her worshippers are found much more often among Elves.
Language: Humans speak the most widespread language on Fou Lu, one that has been so for so long it's now simply called the Common Language, or just Common. There are many different dialects, divided by continent, as well as places on a continent, but most humans will just speak Common when they're unsure whether the other knows their dialect or not.
Society: It is hard to pin down a definite average for human society. Children are generally raised in two parent households, although a startling number are born to only one parent or perhaps with no family at all. Human marriages are between two people, one of each gender, and can only be ended depending on local laws or by death of one or both of the spouses. Men usually dominate human society, though there are isolated pockets or times when women have taken charge of things for some time. In general, they are a patriarchal people, looking for men and strong father figures as leaders of kingdoms or simply households.
In The World: Humans cover most of Fou Lu, being the most populous race thus far, a long stretch from the diminishing Winglie population. They control many seats of power, as heads of great kingdoms and armies, as well as magical academies and schools. The other races all have their traditions, but some things have slowly slipped to fit more easily with human society and morals. Sadly, this has lost several customs to time, but the humans don't seem to care, only wanting to stop their own race from being wiped out like a few others.
