Appearance: The Draginas tend to be slightly taller than Humans. Most stand anywhere from six to seven feet in height. In many cases one can tell the Dragina's preference, be it magic or metal, by their build. Magic users tend to be taller and thinner whereas the warrior types are shorter and stockier with a heavy muscular build beneath their thick scaly skin.
A protruding snout gives the Dragina a crocodile-like appearance. Adding to this reptilian visage is the lack of ears. Rather, they possess scaled holes on either extreme of the head, despite this, they still have rather acute hearing.
Sharp claws protrude from the feet and hands that are sometimes used as weapons in and of themselves. Added to this, sharp fang-like teeth denote a predator's lifestyle, or at least a heavy dependence on meat.
Wings also protrude from the spinal column of every Dragina. Rather than being butterfly or fairy-like, the Dragina wings are powerful, clawed appendages with a thick membrane of scales. They can't fly as fast as the average Fagly Wingly but are much better suited for aerial combat.
As far as clothing goes, the Dragina wear an estranged wardrobe. The average male warrior would usually wear a skirt-like robe with a heavy leather or chain plate worn atop it; along with greaves and arm guards. The female warrior would wear a similar combination of clothing but usually slightly lighter in weight. Don't let that fool you though, Dragina women are still very strong.
The spell caster wears the usual habiliments of the type. Long, heavy robes with a heavy face-hiding cowl. They choose not to don armor more often than not and rather than a sword at the side one would find a thick tome laden with spells.
The element of the Dragina tends to have little effect on their general appearances. It is noted, however, that those born on the air continent are slightly taller and possess larger, more powerful wings; whereas those born on the earth continent are slightly shorter and stockier and have thicker, shorter wings. Also, the fire born tend to possess thicker scales and longer tails, sometimes with thorny projections on the end rather than a smooth tip. The water continent has the most unusual effect, however. Those from the water continent have extremely long tails, sometimes longer than the entirety of their bodies as well as webbed fingers and toes for easier movement in the water, along with extremely long, thin wings, those of these isles are considered queer looking by the rest of the Dragina society. Those of the Psychic isles are perhaps the greatest of the spell casters. They have smoother snouts with wise, purple eyes. They tend to be thinner and taller.
Abilities: Large, powerful wings allow them the obvious gift of flight... Beside this, the Dragina possess one more ability that is often revered by those of other races. In a state of extreme carnal emotion, a Dragina can sometimes transform. They grow into massive beasts of untold power. Titanic creatures called Dragons...The forefathers of existence.
Depending upon the Dragina's element, a different type of dragon will result. Fire continent dragons are extremely large with spined ridges and jagged protrusions crisscrossing their bodies. Earth continent dragons are larger yet but fly very slowly. They tend to be smoother with unheard of strength. It was said once, that a dragon from the earth continent could lift a mountain above its head and have some power to spare. Air dragons are very small and swift, with razor sharp talons and bladed wings. Water continent dragons have sometimes been confused with sea serpents as they lose their wings and instead become water-bound. Most estranged are dragons of the Psychic isles, who are small and swift yet lack the sharpness of talons. Rather, these creatures possess enlarged craniums with thin dextrose fingers that are excellent for manipulating psychic energies.
Despite this fact, very few Draginas have ever achieved this form... Nol, Rein and Thorne are amongst the most famous ever to become the great and powerful Dragon. Besides, there's a downside to all this power. Generally, a period of almost three hundred years of madness ensues after the transformation. The Dragina's mind is shattered and left in a carnal state until eventually they can regain control and once more become Draginan.
History: Dragon Kind had existed long before the fourth world and it was these all knowing and veritably all powerful creatures who decided to become the Dragina through a tedious decision.
The existence of the Dragina race extends back to the first age of the new world, properly titled The Age of the Dragina. It was during the Psychic Shattering, the breaking of Thanatos' mind, that the Dragina first seized power.
Shortly after the complete subjugation of the Human race, the Dragina tribes united beneath the banner of a single Empire and crowned their first Emporer-Tharigan. Beneath the rule of Tharigan, Dragina villages became sprawling cities and spiraling capitals. Tharigan extended the Draginan reign across much the world and ruled with an iron fist. Technology bloomed amongst the Draginan culture like death in a graveyard, new weapons, new armor, new alloys, new everything. Also, great discoveries in the field of magic were made. It was in this age that the first abilities of magical gems and stones were discovered and in this age that the first Jewelers and Jewel Crafters were born.
Three emperors succeeded Tharigan, each making their own contribution to society. It was during the reign of the fourth emperor that things fell apart. The kingdom shattered and nine great tribes were formed. Each of the tribes fought amongst one another for many long years, vying for land and dominance over the others. The wars decimated the Draginan forces, leaving the race a shattered ruin and priming it for the Human uprising.
In the after-math of the tribal battles, the Humans freed themselves from thousands of years of slavery. Rising up in great force and greater numbers, they seized Draginan cities, capitals and lives. The Draginas retreated to their ancestral homes and left the Humans to their revelry, taking with them only what they deemed too powerful and too dangerous for feeble Human minds.
During the age of Humans, the Dragina became a lost and nearly extinct race. Remaining within their magically protected circles, they watched in horror as Humankind tore down everything they had strived to build. Cities disappeared and reappeared, changed and humanized.
The Dragina were heard little of during the Divine Wars as well, still locked away within their homes, waiting patiently for their time to come again.
It was not until the Age of Chaos, thousands of years after their disappearance that the Draginan race reappeared on the much-changed face of Fou Lu. In the reign of the Dilosian Empire, on the Psychic islands, Rein... The Red Dragina is born. He rises swiftly to power and is eventually crowned emperor of Dilosia. With the power of sacred Dragina magic and the force of all Psychic elementals behind him, Rein sweeps the world, devouring land for the Dilosian Empire.
The majority of Fou Lu falls beneath the Red Emperor’s hold, though a tentative hold it is. Though Rein had no lust for land. At this time, his only true desire was to become a God. He came very close by subjugating Thanatos and claiming the Psychic God's power as his own.
Althena, in her great wisdom, summoned a hero from each of the elements to rise and battle against Rein. It was during the Battle of the Apocalypse that Rein's thirst for Godhood finally overwhelmed him and he took measures to access the gate of Primus and enter the realm of the Gods.
It is here that Nol appeared. Rein's lost brother came forwards to battle him. Both, compelled by their rage, become Dragons and a battle ensues that makes the very foundations of the world rattle with their power.
In the end, there is no clear victor, but Rein's attempt at entering the gate of Primus is crushed and a madness sets in. His hatred for Nol devours him as he remains in his dragon state, waiting for the return of his brother.
During the age of Renewal, the Red Empire loses control of some land but remains the greatest kingdom in the world. Draginas remain near to the point of extinction.
Transportation: The Dragina rely mostly on their wings and feet for travel. There's not much else to be said here.
Religion: The Dragina worship their gods in a different light than most races. Rather than worshiping for love of the gods, they do so in fear. The Dragina work on the principle that the Gods are the all-controlling factors and base much of their lives on pleasing these gods. The Red Emperor, with a vile hatred for Thanatos, worships Mercu and Dio... Religiously, you might say.
Language: "Dragon Tongue" is harsh and guttural, made so by the gravely vocal chords of the race. The more eloquent Humans and Elves have compared it to grinding rocks with a lizard corpse between them. Despite this, "The Language" as the Dragina call it, is ancient and well versed. It extends into vast complexities that take years to learn.
Dragons themselves communicate via a flux of magical energies. Rather than using a spoken tongue, they send signals through the manipulation of the elementus. It's a complex ability.
Society: Draginan society was a structured empire of ranks and sub ranks. All things were ordered and strict, based mostly around extreme religion. The various temples of the Gods are among the highest order of the Dragina and play a powerful and controlling role in their society. After the Human uprising, this society was lost and Dragina's today are nearly extinct.
In The World: The Dragina no longer play a role in world politics. Only Rein, the great leader of the Red Faction plays much of a role in anything. The still living Dragina scarcely care of the world at large and are more bent on serving themselves and their gods
