The First Scroll of Primus
In the beginning, there was Void. In the Void slept That Which Always Was on a bed of
destroyed worlds. Then It awoke, and beheld the nothingness that was Void. One can not
measure the time It spent without thought, staring into the Void, for there was no such
thing as time yet. Then an amazing thing happened, It, That Which Always Was, began to
contemplate the Void. This created Thought. In the First Thought there was naught, for it
was Thought of the Void, the first building block of All That Is. Then its contemplation
changed, moving on to the Second Thought, in which was contemplated the opposite of Void,
Existence. So it came to pass that Energies were created, swirling Chaos around That Which
Always Was. The Chaos gave rise to the Third Thought, in which It contemplated Form. This
is how Chiv came to be, that which forms the solid things of All That Is. It saw the Forms
among the Chaos and moved on to the Fourth Thought, in which It contemplated Spirit. It
watched All That Was mingle among the Void. Finally came the Fifth Thought, in which It
contemplated Unity. And thus All That Was joined among the Void to become the First World.
That Which Always Was watched as the Forms joined with the Spirit, making living
creatures. It watched as Form joined with Chaos and became Nature, solid yet always
changing and unpredictable. It watched as Chaos joined with Spirit to created Death,
bringing down the living creatures that would yet replenish themselves in a never ending
cycle. That Which Always Was took bits of All That Was into himself, taking the ability to
take on Form, become as Spirit, or become one with Chaos. It began to name All That Was,
and created different animals and genders. So It also gave a name to It's self, and became
Primus. In that Primus became aware that he Was, and always had Been. Then it was that He
came down to dwell among his creations in the First World, for uncountable years as we
would reckon, but still there was not time, nor day or night, All simply Was, and none
questioned it.
During the endless paradise that was the First World, Primus was never alone. He was surrounded by his creates, the favorite of which were the powerful spirit-beings that he named Dragons. They were among the first to come about as a result of the Fourth Thought and held powers that very few could match, though Primus could easily surpass their might. With the Dragons were the Tersids, their servants. The Tersids were simple creatures, and the Dragons taught them simple things in exchange for their loyal service.
There were also the Gods. Althena was the first of them, and she was as a mate to Primus, nearly equal in power. With Althena in his company Primus had new Thoughts, which spawned the raw energies of the Elements. From these energies Althena created children for Primus and herself. These were the next Gods, the Elemental Gods, and their power was great in their control of the Elements, but it was not equal to the might of the Dragons.
One by one they Elemental Gods were formed from the Elements. First was Volkain, from the Element of Air. Shortly followed Dio, from the Element of Earth. These were rivals, for their Elements were directly opposed. Together they formed the physical land and sky, forever divided. Next was Mercu, from the Element of Fire, and he heated the land which Dio had created. After this came Aidon, from the Element of Water. Aidon divided the land with great oceans, where she dwelled. Finally came Thanatos, from the Element of the Mind, which is called Psychic. Thanatos created dreams, and gave lower creatures Thought.
Finally, there was the First. The First had been a powerful spirit-being who had Created a physical Form from Chiv on its own. The First was witness to the tempering of the Elemental Gods, and their creation of land, air, heat, water, and dreams. When he went to dwell in the place they had created Althena noticed the First. Althena was pleased by the form of the First, and created Humans in the same images. The Humans were given Dream and Thought by Thanatos, though they were little more than animals for they had no one to teach them.
All dwelled in peace, and the Dragons discussed with Primus, bringing him closer to new Thoughts, which slowly molded the First World, changing it. Then it was that Primus realized the differences coming between him and many others, and understood he was far greater than all others, though still enjoyed the company of Althena and the Dragons. So it was that he left the First World, retreating to a place where only the Dragons and Althena could visit him.
This is how came about the Second World, for in his near isolation Primus contemplated much, and the world became more and more finite, boundaries being created, power being limited. The Elements which the Elemental Gods controlled formed into lands and seas and skies and dreams. Things started to become limited to a single Form, even the great Dragons that took upon the Form of great scaled beasts, terrible in visage, but calm in mind. Primus made them the rulers of the Second World, and they understood concepts of art, philosophy, science, and mathematics. The Dragons built great cities, the other creatures obeying them, as did the World, which would bow and change at their whim. The Dragons, busy with their new responsibilities, found less and less time to discuss with Primus, and the Second World began to grow stagnant, wars breaking out, and the creatures falling into great depression and sadness at the bad fortune.
Althena saw this and created a plan to rejuvinate the World. She gave Humans more complex Thought, and taught them about sciences and mathematics. When she showed Primus how the Humans flourished with the new knowledge, he was glad. The dread and sadness lifted from the Second World, which entered into an age of prosperity as Primus stayed with Althena, and began once more to think upon and watch the World. It was during this time that the Dragons became divided, mingling with other species, creating the Lesser Dragons. The Greater Dragons, rulers of the Second World, used these Lesser beings to carry out their orders, and to assist in ruling their kingdoms.
The prosperity brought about radical changes, as did the appearance of the Lesser Dragons. As things went on Humans became more and more powerful, setting up their own kingdoms as the Greater Dragons began to tire of the world and fall into deep sleeps. Finally Primus collected them up from the world, bringing them to him, and shaping the world anew with the help of Althena and her own Thoughts. So it was that the Third World came about, in which Humans were greatest among all, subjugating even the Lesser Dragons. There were others, however, favored by Primus whom they did not rule, for they had Been ever since the First World. They were the Tersids, former servants of the Dragons, that Primus had gifted with more power as they became less necessary for their Masters. In the stagnation of the Second World they had retreated below ground, thinking that the life upon the surface would surely be destroyed. There they dwelt, in the glory of Primus, until a great Change would awaken them to the world above.
It is during this time that the First disappeared. Many Humans went seeking into the wilds to find him, even used their power to gain an audience with the Elemental Gods, with whom he shared company at times. The First became more and more elusive until he finally was simply gone. It is believed that he went to slumber with many of the Lesser Dragons who were fleeing from the tyranny of the Humans. Not all of the Lesser Dragons went into hiding, however.
As a result of the power of the Humans many Lesser Dragons Changed, summoning ancient power to shift their Forms, becoming as humans, yet retaining their True Forms deep within. So did the Draginas come about, and they mingled with Humans, gaining power. Primus and Althena watched the Humans and Draginas, using the powers of the world to change it, and themselves. The Humans began to try and change their Form as the Lesser Dragons had done to become Draginas. This is what created the bastard race called Winglies. Primus looked upon them and despaired, for they were a perversion of his Creation. He was to destroy them, but Althena in her mercy saved them, though they were punished. Primus told them, when the Fourth World began all memories and greatness of the Third World would be wiped away, the Winglies would begin to die in great numbers. The Winglies despaired.
So it was then that Primus left the world, glories of the former Worlds gone, and only the Scrolls of Primus to tell us of the times of Before. It is said even the Gods remember little of Primus, save for Althena who remembers all the greatness that Is the Father. He went away, and the slumbering Greater Dragons awoke and rose, going forth with him. Still none could find the First, and the hiding places of the Lesser Dragons were obscured by magics. The Humans fell from their power and became subjugated by the Draginas. The Winglies died in many varied ways, until they were a very small race. Power dwindled in the World, becoming even more finite than before.
This is the World in which All That Is now exists, under the reign of the Five Gods of the Elements, and Althena the Mother. Though once again the World stagnates, as the Thoughts of Primus have left it, only Althena's contemplations saving it until the time that Primus shall return and usher in the Fifth World, when All That Is shall be One.
