Fou Lu, being a world largely splintered into kingdoms, has a very simple currency. The people of Fou Lu use two methods of payment.

First there are coins. These are usually made of gold, though sometimes of silver (which are of lesser value). Coins usually carry the symbol of where they come from, as all you require is a furnace and a mold to melt down and press the coins with your symbol. Churches that take in coins as donations will usually melt them down and mint them with the face of their God. Kingdoms that collect coins in tax collection may melt them down and mint them with the face of their monarch or symbol of their kingdom. There are others who simply mint the coin with no symbol at all, leaving them plain. Nuggets and bars of gold or silver are usually accepted as well, though most smart businessmen will insist on weighing it and seeing how many coins could be made from the gold.

Then there is simple trade. Goods or services can be traded if both parties agree to the exchange. If you have something a man wants, and they have something you want, you may be able to come to an arrangement without exchanging coins. Wanderers often choose this method, chopping firewood or helping with a harvest in exchange for food or a place to sleep.

There is also a small trade in living beings. Slavery is not illegal everywhere in Fou Lu, though there are certain kingdoms which disallow it and still have a black market trade in slaves. However, these people are not very trusting, so don’t expect to be approached about buying a slave. You would have to have proper connections to buy or sell people. The safest way to get cash for a warm body is to capture a non-Human and go to the Seekers.
