MercuOf all the Gods, Mercu is the middle child. This probably explains a lot about him. Mercu's realm trespasses into Dio's, who was probably too busy fighting with Volkain to care. Then Aidon came, and her realm stifiled the seemingingly infinite potential of Fire. And along came Thanatos, who was tormented into insanity by Mercu...so what exactly is this God of Fire?
He's a lot like his element, really. No, that doesn't mean he springs up quickly and settles down as fast. Mercu starts slowly, gaining momentum bit by bit until he's unstoppable, and then slowly dieing down to the last embers. Maybe if he'd moved faster, water would have never had time to settle. He's been going for awhile now, a dynamo of passion and bloodlust. He was ignored little brother and the evil older one, but now the spastic arsonist you always knew, but without the spasticity and instead divine pride. When the Gods see a problem, they accuse this trouble-maker first. Not without a sense of humor, he's Fou Lu's own cupid...probably causing wars.
The worshipers of Mercu, or Mercuvians, are not particularly bound to any traits of the element. They are obligated to join militias at the age of twenty, or at least fight in any causes the church deems war-worthy. And there aren't very many of those, since Mercu's laid off the wars he wants so badly ever since he kind of destroyed the mind of his little brother.
Women have been officially declared "too qualified" for positions in the church, a statement that has caused much anger from the female community. Ironically, it is this hot-headedness that qualifies them so well...oppression is the rule of thumb (shoot me for that one) in the more devout churches. Their reasoning is this: If we don't oppress, they won't rebel. And if they don't rebel, we become weak and lazy. When they rebel, the weak leave or are killed, and the strong remain to oppress once more. The politics of the Mercuvian church are a vicious cycle.
