Air Element
Valanthians vary in almost all things (it is their dominant characteristic) but all share one similarity to their patron diety: anything Dio is, they are violently, fervently, and one might even say fanatically opposed to. Patient meditation they loathe; swift, decisive action is their favorite modus operandum, consequences be damned. Their basic aversion to similarity is most easily shown in their two great heroes: The Elf-Father, the Lance of Volkain, First Among Dragoons, hailed even among the Diosans as the greatest soldier to ever live, stands diametrically opposed to the living legend, the Immortal Wizard, Chimaera-Master, Madman and Champion, known worldwide as the most capricious, psychotic, and dangerous human being on the face of the planet. To describe the Valanthian mindset requires a predisposition one way or the other: if one is positive towards them, they are open-minded and decisive. If one is negative towards them, they are hypocritical and foolhardy. Take your pick.
Magically, Air Elementals are best known for their devastating knowledge of lightning and similar energies, but their powers over all forms of weather are not to be ignored. If ancient legends are to be believed, the Fire Continent were lush and green before the first great War of the Flame...
Volkain: King of Winds Volkain is fast, dangerous, and swift-minded. He watches over the world from his Cloud Castle, and it is from there he sends out weather, messages, his legions... The Dio-Volkain clashes are by no means a one-sided war. Each harbors a deep resentment towards the other, and it is generally agreed among the neutral disciples of Aidon that if the two were not created enemies, Volkain started it. Volkain's disciples form much of the order of the Ninja, with the followers of Thanatos and Aidon forming the rest.
